. and that is why it is so important for us to do the report that we did. i will give you a perfect example. you have loan officers at banks being paid bonuses and pay based on how many loans they created. not whether those were good loans. not taking into account whether the loans would later default and caused sick of it and losses. there were a number of different causes of the financial crisis. we tried to bring a lot of transparency to it, to report on that. we are also doing a lot of work in this area to say what has not been dealt with. you are exactly right, fannie and freddie is not dealt with under dodd-frank. but let's talk about dodd-frank for a moment. there have been reforms to our financial system, but there needs to be significantly more. one thing about dodd-frank is it sets up a framework. but ultimately not all of the rules are implemented. there are very important standards that need to be set by the regulators and treasury. because what we are worried about is trying to protect americans in the event of another financial crisis. we do not want to be in a situation where one

are at an all time low. seems to me some of those profits could be used to pay workers a bit more. let's be honest here though, the real reason republicans oppose the minimum wage isn't their conservative ideology. after all, what's conservative about subsidizing the profits of private corporations through welfare, food stamps and medicaid so they can underpay their workers? the real reason they oppose the minimum page is precisely because their corporate benefactors want the taxpayer subsidy of low wages to continue. they're all for corporate welfare. it's time for the gop's corporate sponsors to step up and take some personal responsibility instead of leeching off the taxpayer. maybe if they took a stand for an increased minimum page they could make they're rebranding substantive. until then in tragic irony the million s of people who serve our food, take care of our children, and serve us in countless ways will continue to be undervalued and forced in government dependence by the gop and the businesses these republicans are beholden to. now to a man who is beholden to nobody, martin

be released. yet 83% of americans said they supported the president's use of drone strikes. i'm wondering is there any public pressure to be more transparent? is that going to happen now? >> that's really interesting. i mean, you cited that poll, 83% of folks agree with the drone program, its use at least overseas. there's a difference if this is used on our soil here, certainly no backing for that among americans, but so far you haven't seen the outcry of a public outcry in terms of this program being used to target americans overseas. i think this is the first big public airing of this issue that we've seen. we'll see obviously brennan take it up today and perhaps after that you'll have americans raising some concern, but so far there has been bipartisan concern i think on the hill. it hasn't extended to the american public, and even in some ways you have had a situation here where republicans have been the fiercest supporters of this program. some folks saying what about democrats also being in the president's corner if this was bush doing the same thing? would they have had a differen

allows us to invest in those things that we need to grow right now because that's also a deficit reduction agenda that's growing faster. and in order to have a balanced package that means that we've already done a lot of cuts. we've done some revenue now, and so the rest of the way moving forward we can do some additional reforms and make our health care programs work better and make them more efficient, and we can cut out programs that we don't need, but it also means that we've got to be able to close some tax loopholes and deductions that the average american cannot take advantage of, to raise the revenue, to actually do the job in a way that allows us to continue to grow. now, the reason this is relevant is because i gather and i haven't gotten this from first-hand sources, but from second hand sources in the press that our friends on the other side of the aisle, their position is we're concerned about the sequester. we recognize that just cutting the federal spending with the meat ax as opposed to scalpel is probably damaging and will damage our national security and will da

forward. so it's a tool -- >> what do they still want to know about benghazi that can be used as a reason for this decision to hold up this confirmation? what do they still want to know? >> they want to know the name of the person who changed the talking points that were circulated and included the description of the video and a spontaneous demonstration when they've now learned through testimony that the secretary defense and the joint chiefs chair both knew almost instantly that it was terrorism. they want to get to the bottom of this. they say that while many in the media, while many in the public think this issue is over and done with, that the families want to know and that they need to have more information so that conduct of any administration will be aware of the power of oversight from the senate. and they think that will change how people react and decisions they will make. that's the argument they laid out. they said it is not personal, but it is a tool to get information. they believe it was successful in getting the hearing and the letter they wanted. >> thank you, kelly o'do
